Molitor will become just the third manager for the franchise since 1986, following Tom Kelly and the recently fired Ron Gardenhire. The 58-year-old St. Paul native and University of Minnesota product finished his Hall of Fame playing career with his hometown team from 1996-98 and was a coach on Gardenhires staff last year after previously serving as bench coach for Kelly in 2000 and 2001.
